La ciudad destaca principalmente por albergar el emblemático complejo de las pirámides de Guiza, una de las Siete Maravillas del Mundo: la enorme pirámide del rey Khufu, la estatua de la Esfinge, la más grande y antigua del mundo, y el templo del valle, la casa de la momificación.
