Ce haut barrage est un grand barrage situé à Assouan, en Égypte. Il a été construit entre 1960 et 1970 sur le Nil dans le but de fournir de l'irrigation et de l'énergie hydroélectrique au pays. Le barrage a créé le lac Nasser, un grand lac artificiel qui fournit de l'eau pour l'agriculture et permet de produire de l'électricité grâce à l'énergie hydroélectrique.
Il s'agit d'un ancien obélisque égyptien en pierre situé dans la région nord des carrières d'Assouan, en Égypte. L'obélisque, qui mesure environ 42 mètres de long et aurait pesé environ 1 200 tonnes, a été taillé dans un seul morceau de granit. On pense qu'il a été abandonné pendant sa création en raison de fissures apparues dans la pierre.

Le temple de Philae était dédié à la déesse Isis et a été un centre de culte pendant plus de 1 000 ans. Le temple a été construit à l'origine sur une île voisine, mais a été déplacé à son emplacement actuel sur l'île de Philae dans les années 1970 pour éviter la montée des eaux du lac Nasser.
