Se trata de dos enormes templos rupestres situados en el sur de Egipto, cerca de la frontera con Sudán. Se construyeron durante el reinado del faraón Ramsés II en el siglo XIII a.C. y se consideran uno de los logros arquitectónicos más impresionantes del antiguo Egipto. Estos dos templos fueron reubicados en la década de 1960 para evitar su inundación durante la construcción de la Presa Alta de Asuán. El templo más grande está dedicado a Ramsés II y cuenta con cuatro estatuas de 20 metros de altura del faraón en su entrada, mientras que el templo más pequeño está dedicado a su reina, Nefertari. Los templos de Abu Simbel siguen siendo uno de los principales destinos turísticos de Egipto y son un testimonio de la grandeza de la cultura y la arquitectura del antiguo Egipto.
